The Frozen Few

Directed by Stephen Marino

USA ∙ 3 MIN ∙ Narrative ∙ 2017 ∙ English ∙ Canadian Premiere

On a cold March day, a group of men known as the Crazy Eights crosses the border into Sault Ste. Marie, where snow-covered streets and abandoned industrial buildings create a landscape seemingly suspended in time.

Set against a narration of Robert Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and the restless pulse of John Coltrane, The Frozen Few follows the riders as they search for speed in the frozen North. Shot on 16mm film with a rich, period-inspired aesthetic, the film blurs past and present, capturing motorcycles, friendship and motion as something almost mythic.

Best Short Narrative Film, TMFF 2018
