Some motorcycle journeys are about how far you can go. Nordic Silence is about what happens when you stay out there long enough for everything else to fall away.
Emil settles into the solitude and repetition of travelling alone, allowing long stretches of road, silence and isolation to unfold at their own pace. The film deliberately resists rushing the experience; its rhythm asks us to spend time inside the journey rather than simply watch the kilometres pass.
For anyone who has ridden far enough to feel the noise in their head finally disappear, there’s something very familiar here.

Director Bio
Emil Duvander is a Swedish filmmaker and motorcycle traveller whose work has returned to TMFF more than once over the years. His films are drawn to the quieter side of riding—long distances, difficult weather, solitude and the strange rhythm that settles in when the road stretches on for days.
A longtime TMFF alumnus, Emil first appeared at the Festival with Blue Mountains in the Arctic in 2019, and his work has remained part of the TMFF programming since. He has also made the trip from Sweden to join us in person on multiple occasions.
With Nordic Silence, Emil returns to familiar territory: not simply documenting where the motorcycle takes him, but what happens to a rider when there is enough distance, time and silence for everything else to fall away.
