Reel Revs Contest Rules & Regulations

Overview

Motorcycling is more than just a means of transportation; it's a way of life that stirs our souls and ignites our spirits. We want to see your unique perspective in a 90-second video that showcases the profound impact of motorcycling on your life. Through your short film, we want to explore the heartfelt stories, thrilling adventures, and cherished moments that motorcycling has blessed you with. Unveil the joy, the camaraderie, the breathtaking scenery, and the indescribable sense of freedom that only two wheels can provide.

Video Submission Guidelines

  1. Videos (the "Entry") must be original creations of the participants.

  2. The maximum video length allowed is 90 seconds including any intros and credits.

  3. Videos must be in MP4 format and can be any standard horizontal or vertical aspect ratio including 21:9, 16:9, 4:13, 1:1, 4:5, 2:3, or 9:16.

  4. Entries should focus on the theme "What Motorcycling Means to Me" and must reflect positive and respectful content.

  5. Videos in a language other than English must contain English subtitles. We encourage all entries to include subtitles as a separate SRT file to make the films more accessible.

  6. All Entries must comply with local laws and regulations regarding motorcycle riding and filmmaking.

  7. Participants must hold the rights to all music, images, and footage used in their videos, or the content must be royalty-free.

  8. TMFF reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates the contest rules or engages in fraudulent activity, or if the video contains subject matter that, in the opinion of TMFF, may violate community standards or is otherwise questionable in taste.

Eligibility

  1. The contest is open to individuals aged 18 years or older at the time of entry. No purchase necessary.

  2. Participants must be legal residents of the countries where the contest is allowed by law.

Prizes

  1. The first-place winner will receive a prize voucher ("Prize") from REV'IT! valued for up to CAN$1,000 in items from in-stock items on the REV'IT! website and must be redeemed within 30 days from date issued to the winner. The Prize has no direct cash value and cannot be used as part of an order for an amount greater than the Prize limit.

  2. The top 3 finalists will also receive a complementary VIP All Access Pass for the TMFF 2023 Festival in Toronto and will be brought up on stage during the screening of their film.

  3. Additional prizes, such as runners-up or honourable mentions, may be awarded at the discretion of the judging panel.

Submission Process

  1. Participants can submit their Entries through the official online submission portal only.

  2. The submission period begins on August 1, 2023 at 9 AM EDT and ends on September 13, 2023 at 6 PM EDT. Any entries received after the deadline will not be considered.

  3. Each participant can submit only one Entry for the contest.

Judging Process and Screening

  1. Based on the submitted entries, TMFF and its representatives will select the top 3 films to be finalists.

  2. Films will be judged based on content (does the video share a personal story of relevance that highlights the relationship with motorcycling), creativity (did the film tell a story in a new and creative way), and quality (is the video clear, engaging, what is the quality of the video and audio).

  3. TMFF will notify the top 3 finalists via email by September 15.

  4. The finalist's films will be screened in front of a live audience at the TMFF festival, which will be held from September 21 to September 23 in Toronto.

  5. After the finalist's films are screened, the live audience at the TMFF festival will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film by applause.The film with the highest applause will be awarded the first-place Reel Revs award.

  6. TMFF encourages the finalists to attend the Festival, where they will be brought up on stage during the screening of their films.

  7. The top 3 finalists and winning film will be announced and shared on the TMFF website and via social media.

Copyright and Usage Rights

  1. By submitting a video to the contest, participants grant TMFF permission to screen the films in theatres, on the TMFF Cinema video-on-demand (VOD) platform, as well as on TMFF's website and social media channels.

  2. Participants understand and agree that TMFF may add a title and end card to their video entry and that their video entry or a portion thereof will be posted or shared on the TMFF website, YouTube or social media channels and may appear in other media as selected by TMFF.

  3. Participants retain ownership of their videos and may continue to use them for personal or non-commercial purposes after the contest.

  4. By submitting an Entry, you irrevocably grant TMFF and its affiliates, legal representatives, assigns, agents and licensees the unconditional and perpetual right and permission to reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse (without limitation as to when or to the number of times used) your entry, as well as to use your name, likeness, photograph (“Likeness”) and/or statements regarding your participation in this contest (with or without using your name) in any and all media without limitation as to time or territory and without additional compensation or approval from you or any other party. You hereby waive all intellectual property rights, privacy/publicity rights and other legal and moral rights that might preclude TMFF or its affiliate’s use of your Entry, and you agree not to sue or assert any claim against TMFF for the use of your Entry or your Likeness or statements.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TMFF, its affiliates and agencies and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents and any of their employees (collectively, the “Indemnitees”) harmless from any and all claims, damages, expenses, costs (including reasonable lawyers' fees) and liabilities (including settlements) brought or asserted by any third party against any of the Indemnitees due to or arising out of your Entry or your conduct in creating an Entry or otherwise in connection with this contest, including, but not limited to, claims for trademark and copyright infringement; violation of an individual’s right of publicity or right of privacy; or defamation. You further agree to release TMFF and its affiliates from any and all claims that any advertising subsequently produced, presented, and/or prepared by or on behalf of TMFF infringes your rights with regard to any elements, characters or ideas contained in your Entry.

Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of these rules and regulations. You also consent to receive from time to time promotional messages and materials from us, by mail, email or any other contact form you may provide us. Contest Changes and Cancellation

TMFF reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.
