I HATE LADIES

Directed by Sofia Wikelid, Vanja Lamm, Agnes Wentzel Blank

SHORT NARRATIVE | 10 minutes | International Premiere

Out of an estimated number of 200 000 ‘boda boda’ drivers in Uganda’s capital city of Kampala there is only one woman: Naume Awero. These motorcycle taxis got their name from the bikes that used to transport people across the border between Uganda and Kenya - from “border to border”. I Hate Ladies follows  Naume and exposes how her attitude towards women has been affected by her background and daily life in a male-dominated business.

About the Directors

The three directors grew up in Stockholm and Gothenburg and met at a documentary film school in Stockholm. They became friends quickly and were filming short scenes together starting in the Fall of 2016. In the Spring of 2017 when the film school went on a trip to Uganda, Vanja, Agnes, and Sofia were in search of project and upon meeting Naume, they felt they had to do tell her story.
